Form 6 French Trip 2008

Sunday 13th April - Departure Day

Madame Hall reported that she had experienced the smoothest Channel crossing since Captain Webb made his historic swim.  Not one child was ill and so Mr Underwood was employed in purchasing meals for everyone rather than his usual cleaning duties. The passage through passport control was equally trouble free and the children arrived safely at 'Le Chateau' in the evening.  Beds discovered and suitcases prised open, a night of sleep beckoned.

Monday 14th April

Up bright and early, enjoying the taste of French cuisine....perhaps not!  However, the sun has been shining and the children have been out catching the morning air.  Today, they are off to the woods to brush up on their archery skills, experience fencing and participate in woodland activities.

Tuesday 15th April

Following a successful first full day of activities and action, Form 6 awoke to a beautifully, sunny day.  The children spent the morning at the local market where each child managed to put their French language skills to good use purchasing ingredients for a gastronomic picnic lunch which they had outside Mont St Michel.  During the afternoon, more shopping at the hypermarket, giving the children the opportunity to spend a little of their pocket money.  The verdict - life in France is far better than school.

Wednesday 16th April

It has been a very busy day for Form 6 today - archery, French lessons and woodland activities whilst once again being bathed in glorious sunshine.  The girls have all displayed their competitive streaks by completing the assault course - as you will see from the muddy faces, hands, clothes, below.

It may be time to check that washing machines are all in working order, have been 'Calgoned' and are ready for the onslaught of muddy assault gear.

Tonight is French night and everyone will be dressing up in their wonderful outfits, putting their French language skills to the test, and trying snails.......

Thursday 17th April

Madame Hall has reported that the French night was a resounding success with EVERYONE eating snails and looking very much the part.....

They are still enjoying superb weather, although a bit chilly in the mornings.  Today, they have been out on canoes........

The girls enjoying a laugh at the boys' expense??

.....and fencing this afternoon.....

.....a smashing time is being had by all!

It has been non-stop action since they arrived in France, so everyone is feeling quite tired - an early lights out tonight perhaps?

Friday 18th April

The final message from Madame Hall is that all is well, although the weather is a little overcast.  However, a few drops of rain has not stopped our intrepid Form 6 continuing abound with climbing, more canoeing and archery, and aeroballe - a combination of trampolining and basketball.  They have also visited a farm and fed the chickens, llamas and horses.

Another early night beckons (but this could be wishful thinking on Madame Hall's part) in preparation of a 6am start for the long journey home.   Estimated time of arrival back at school on Saturday is 5pm - please ring the school on Saturday from 4pm onwards for confirmation.
