Life in Pre-Prep

SPRING TERM 2009

Form One

Our topic for Spring Term is Toys.   We have looked in detail at toys over the past century comparing old and new toys; what they are made of and how they work.  In February we had a visit by the Warwickshire Toy Museum and enjoyed a practical workshop.

We wrote about our favourite toys and used the computer to sort new and old toys in a venn diagram.

Form One have been cooking this term and enjoyed preparing a variety of recipes including some healthy vegetable kebabs with a yoghurt dip (see below).

In science we discussed the forces connected with 'push and pull'.  We pushed paint along the paper by blowing through a straw and dragged paint using combs.  It was fun watching the paint travel and trying to make different patterns.

In Literacy we continue to read and spell more high frequency words and concentrate on the beginning and end consonant clusters.  A lot of our reading and writing experiences have been based around traditional stories; sequencing them; discussing the characterisation and retelling them from the point of view of a character.

Arts Festival Week towards the end of term was a great success and you can read more about this on the latest news page.
