An early start tomorrow...up at 5am!
Form 5 Field Trip to Preston Montford
Each year our Form 5 pupils have the opportunity to go on a 4 night residential to carry out fieldwork.
In spite of some rain our Form 5 pupils enjoyed the outdoors to the full - activities included orienteering,
small mammal trapping, pond investigation, taking river measurements and a valley and ridge walk at Ashes Hollow.
Form 4 visit to the Space Centre
Form 4 spent the day at the Space centre as part of their Earth, Sun and Moon topic in Science. We started off with a theatre show in the Space theatre all about the Earth, Sun and Moon. We then looked around the galleries and climbed the 150 steps to get to the top of the rocket tower. After lunch, we did a workshop where everyone got to make their own rocket and launch it.
Form 3 visit to Harvington Hall

Trip report by Sam 3RS
On Thursday 2nd October, our class, Mr Solly, Mrs Cannings and Miss Sweeney went to Harvington Hall. We were learning about the Tudors so it was a good idea to go. |
 |
First we got off the coach and saw a huge building surrounded by a deep moat. It was like a mansion! After we put our
packed lunch down we went to the chapel and Dr Dodd’s library to see the priest hides. They were for Catholic priests
to hide from the searchers sent from King Henry VIII. The library’s priest hole was the cleverest. I loved being inside the
priest hole.
Next we went to the Great Kitchen and learnt how the servants worked and the prices they have to pay. We learnt
about what they carried on their belt. I enjoyed this quite a lot.
After our delicious lunch we went to the shop. I bought a cute soft toy with a Harvington hall collar on. I thought the
guides had worked hard on the shop.
Later we went to the Great chamber to see what the Tudors would have worn to a party. The clothing was fancier than
I thought. We also saw how the Tudors did their old fashioned dancing. We had a go at doing a dance. I found
this extremely easy. It was very different to the dancing we do now.
Finally we learnt about Henry VIII’s wives (Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine
Howard and Catherine Parr) and the things the Tudors used in the wars and ship battles. This was really interesting.
Eventually we got back from Harvington Hall and we were back at school after an exciting and interesting school trip….
……and two long coach journeys!
Form 5 visit to the Islamic Exhibition Centre
Recount by George 5GH
We went on a trip to the Islamic Centre. We watched a dvd and listened to an Islamic call. There were six sections, my
favourite section was the Family Life Section. We dressed up too. We learnt that there were 99 names for Allah and
that a spider spun a giant web on the cave entrance so that no one could get in and there were dove eggs so that
people would think the cave was deserted. We also went to a real mosque. I was amazed, the dome was beautiful.
There were 3550 prayer mats and there was a chair as pretty as a throne. The man who sits on the chair is called an Iman.

I liked dressing up as a muslim and having my picture taken. I learnt that there were more than 1000 prophets.
You should start fasting at the age of 13. I liked it when we had a quiz. I also know that Muhammad was the last
prophet on Earth. I also learnt that there are 99 names for Allah. I liked the part when we had to write our name
in Arabic and did some colouring in the Fun and Activities Section. I liked the models that were showing the mosques
and the routes that the prophets took to get to places and I especially liked the model of the cave with a spider’s
web and dove eggs. I also learnt a few names of muslim scientists.
