Mr John Shaw - Chairman of Governors. Member of the Commercial Sub-Committee and Development Sub-Committee. Joined Governing Body 27/05/1993
John is a Chartered Engineer and was managing director of a large construction company until he established a management consultancy business specialising in the construction sector. He brings commercial and management skills to the board. He is a magistrate, on the Solihull Bench. John is married with two daughters who each have children of prep school age.
Mrs Jan Hornby - Deputy Chair of Governors. Chair of Commercial Sub-Committee. Joined Governing Body 19/06/2007
Jan is married and has one son who is currently in Upper School at Eversfield. Her son joined the school in nursery. Jan joined the Board in June 2007 and is both a qualified Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Tax Adviser. She has worked in a variety of finance roles in a number of large organisations in the Midlands for the last twenty years and so brings broad commercial experience to the Board.
Mr Derek Adamson - Chair of Education & Personnel Sub-Committee. Joined Governing Body 19/09/2004
Derek is a partner in a firm of Birmingham solicitors with whom he has been employed as articled clerk, assistant solicitor and currently partner for a total of 32 years. He specialises in major and often ground-breaking insurance litigation. Derek is married with three children, two sons and a daughter. Both boys were pupils at Eversfield. He was Chairman of the ESA in its formative years and now chairs the Education and Personnel Committee.
Dr Sara Chamberlain - Member of the Education & Personnel Sub-Committee. Joined Governing Body 08/06/2000
Sara has been a member of the Governing Body since 2000. Her husband and three sons are all Old Boys of the school. During the boys’ time at Eversfield, Sara served on the Eversfield School Association. She is a Medical Practitioner currently working with children with learning difficulties and takes a particular interest in the provision of Special Educational Needs at Eversfield.
Mrs Susan Chapman - Chair of the Development Sub-Commitee. Member of the Education & Personnel Sub-Committee. Joined Governing Body 10/03/2010
Susan is married to Mark a Consultant Coloproctologist. She works part time as Practice Manager for his private practice. They have three children, two sons and a daughter who are all educated at different independent schools in the West Midlands. Susan previously worked for a non marine syndicate at Lloyd’s of London, specialising in the underwriting of political risks and products contamination insurance.
Mr Val Harvey - Member of the Education & Personal Sub-Committee. Joined Governing Body 01/09/2000
Val Harvey’s introduction to Eversfield was through his father-in-law, Jim Lees, who was first a pupil, and later, a long serving Governor at Eversfield. Val is Head of Jerwoods, the Lower School, at Oakham, a co-educational independent school in Rutland. He is married with five children, most of whom are coming to the end of their university careers and moving into the world of work.
Mrs Denise Tisdale - Member of the Commerical Sub-Committee and Development Sub-Committee. Joined Governing Body 14/09/2011
Denise has been a main board director of a manufacturing company based in Redditch for the past 17 years and prior to that worked for a merchant investment bank in Birmingham. She was one of the founder committee members of the Eversfield School Associaton (ESA) and her son is an old boy of Eversfield who is now in his final year at university.
