CURRICULUM
Art & Design
The Art & Design curriculum comprises Art, Textiles, Design Technology (DT) and Food Technology.
Art and Design are important elements in the school programme and lessons are approached in lively and varied ways to ignite children’s imagination.
The teaching of Art is based in a dedicated, modern and spacious Art Room where pupils are introduced to many forms and styles of artistic expression, including drawing, painting, collage, printing and clay modelling. Pupils can also receive additional expert tuition during an after-school Art club.
Textile lessons provide pupils with a working knowledge of, and an opportunity to try first-hand, skills such as batik, weaving and appliqué.
The problem-solving approach to Design Technology lessons helps to develop independent thinking and creativity. Pupils also learn to appreciate the enjoyment gained from achieving high standards of craftsmanship.
Food Technology classes teach the children basic culinary skills, enabling them to make a wide variety of simple dishes. Lessons also cover associated topics such as food hygiene and healthy eating.
