CURRICULUM
Sport
Sport is a fundamental part of any growing child's life, whether it be competitive or for sheer enjoyment. By developing physical skills our pupils discover self-confidence, co-operation and have the opportunity to compete in team games.
Superb playing fields, all weather tennis and netball courts, cricket nets and an outdoor heated swimming pool encourage our pupils to take part in a wide variety of different sports throughout the year. Pupils are taught by specialist sports teachers, assisted by professional players from local clubs.
Lower School pupils have one afternoon of games a week. They learn the fundamental skills of football, tag-rugby, netball, hockey and rounders, along with athletics during the Summer Term.
Upper School pupils have two afternoons of games each week working on both individual and team play. Regular matches are arranged for all year groups against other schools. Rubgy, hockey and netball are played during Michaelmas Term, football and hockey in Lent Term and cricket, rounders and athletics in the summer months.
In addition pupils in Reception upwards have a weekly Physical Education lesson (October to May) or swimming (May to October).
As well as fixtures against other schools, pupils compete in House sports competitions.
