EXTRA CURRICULAR
Music Groups
Music plays a significant part in life at Eversfield. As well as music being part of the curriculum with weekly lessons taken by the Music Director; many pupils receive private instrumental lessons delivered by a team of eleven visiting peripatetic staff. Some pupils start as young as six years old and are already taking their Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music examinations a year later.
This year pupils have been awarded choral and music scholarships by some of the best schools in the country, with several others receiving free music lessons to continue their instrumental achievements.
Over 100 private lessons are delivered each week including strings, piano, brass, percussion, woodwind and singing. We hold Musical Moments evenings after school, which take the form of informal concerts for a small audience and give pupils the opportunity to perform in front of others, which helps with their exam preparation. At break and lunchtimes there are several ensembles open to all pupils. These include String Orchestra, Guitar Ensemble, Flute Choir, Swing Band and Wind Band.
Children in Form 3 are able to audition for Junior Choir and sing together with Form 4. They perform at concerts throughout the year as well as at special services for Harvest, Christmas and our End of Year Prize Giving. The Senior Choir is made up of Forms 5 & 6 as well as a Chamber Choir made up of seniors. Both have performed outside of school as part of the Young Voices series of concerts and at The Solihull Choral Society's annual Christmas concert.
