During spring term, Form 3 have been discussing teeth and eating.  They have learnt about the different types of teeth and their functions and how different animals' teeth are adapted to their diet.  We discussed the foods that make up a healthy diet.  We also used disclosing tablets to check how well we are brushing our teeth:-

Next term Form we will be using the laptops and data loggers to measure changes in temperature.

Food Technology

Form 5 have been cooking this term (Spring 2010) they have made cheese and chive bread (see left) and other tasty recipes including chocolate thins, cheddar triangles, mincemeat buns and amazing mango marzipan tartlets!

Design and Technology

Form 3 were given the topic 'winter olympics' and asked to construct an object inspired by this theme.  They came up with a skier, bob sledge, ski run, weights and the starting line.

In Textiles they looked at the picture below and recreated it by sewing together different materials.

Art

Pupils have been drawing their self-portrait and then enlarging and distorting it.

Sport

Gymnastics has been the main activity for Form 6 for the first part of term with aims based around the theme of 'Springing and Landing'.  In the second half of term we will be concentrating on gaining an understanding of individual fitness by participating in a series of simple, modified fitness assessments to include the step test, 12  minute continuous run and stationed fitness circuit.  Form 3 to 5 have been playing football and hockey this term.  All the teams have been playing matches against other schools with some notable performances.  Netball skills from last term have been consolidated as we continue to play in the Solihull Schools' Netball League and the Solihull Schools' Netball Skills competition.  A full round of scores can be found on the link from our sports fixtures page.
