Amazing Aidan takes top prize at Solihull Musician of the year at only 8 years of age
At the age of only 8 years old Aidan Siqi Zhao, a pupil at Eversfield Prep School, has taken the top prize of Solihull Musician of the Year at the Grand Winners’ Concert on Saturday 21st September. Aidan’s piano pieces included Sinfonai No.15 by Back and Lied ohne Worte by Mendelssohn, which he followed with Souvenir de Sarasate by Potsock on the violin. Having taken 1st place in both the U11 Piano and U11 Strings classes Aidan wowed the judges with his performance at the final concert, beating adult musicians in the process. He was presented with a trophy and £1000 music scholarship by the Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Stuart Davis.
Eversfield’s Director of Music, Andrew Biggs, said ‘We are incredibly proud of Aidan. He is an incredibly talented musician who thoroughly deserves his achievements. He recently gained a Distinction in his Grade 7 ABRSM Piano exam, which is a phenomenal result for a child of his age. We are very excited to see what the future holds for him.’
