Another successful year on the rugby field

Having competed successfully at the Regionals of the National Schools Rugby Tournament the U11 and U9 Rugby Teams travelled to Epsom for the finals. This year the U9 team included Alice Wilkins who was the only female player at both regional and national levels. In the first round the U11s won 1, drew 1 and lost 2. The U9s fared slightly better winning 2 of their 3 matches and drawing the third. Going into  the second round, teams were seeded based upon their earlier results. The U11s were placed in the second tier where they won 2 of their matches, drew 1 and lost one. The U9s succeeded in gaining a place in the first tier, placing them in the top 4 teams nationally, where they won 1, drew 1 and lost 1. The tournament follows the RFU’s new rules of play which encourage participation at all levels and, although trophies were not awarded to winning teams, all players received a medal for participation.
