Fire, Fire, Fetch the Engines
Fire, fire! Fetch the engines! The children in Form 2 have been transported back in time to 1666 to learn about the devastation caused by the Great Fire of London.
Taking part in a workshop hosted by expert historians Portals to the Past they investigated different historical sources to interpret the cause of the fire and how the events of the night unfolded as the medieval city was destroyed. Through drama-based activities they learned how residents tackled the blaze using equipment stored in churches at the time and enjoyed singing London's burning as they attempted to put the fire out and save London.
