Music, drama and sporting success celebrated at Headmaster's first assembly of the Summer Term.
Headmaster’s first assembly of the Summer Term proved to be something of a celebration as the the whole School applauded a range of achievements.
Mr Yates presented certificates to the children who sat their ABRSM music examinations during the Lent Term. Our pupils were awarded two Distinctions, four Merits and six Passes at Grade 3; six Distinctions, two Merits and two passes at Grade 2; four Merits and four Passes at Grade 1. Aidan, George, Alex, Evie and Boyi all deserve a special mention for the standard of their performances. This is an outstanding result and all the children should be very proud.
Next it was the turn of the children who attend the drama clubs during and after School and who sat their LAMDA (London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art) examinations during the Lent Term. They were awarded an amazing 36 Distinctions and 15 Merits. All the children achieved very high marks, in particular Scarlet, Amelia, Holly, Hannah and Daisy who all achieved scores in the 90’s.
During the Easter holidays some of our children have been involved in sporting events and their achievements were also acknowledged during this assembly and medals presented. Four children took part in a Swimathon in aid of Marie Curie; Hannah and Max swam 2 ½ km, whilst Hugh and Noah swam 1 ½ km. A further two children competed at athletics meetings. Eva competed for Solihull and Small Heath AC achieving 800m in just over 3 mins. Joshua, who trains with Birchfield Harriers, was awarded a Gold medal in the long jump (3.64m) and a Silver in the 75m sprint (11.57secs).
Congratulations to all the children and a huge thank you to the staff and parents who support and encourage them.
