Football Escapes ISFA U11 Seven

On a sunny but breezy day 10 Eversfield footballers took part in the ISFA Midland Regionals, at Repton School. This is a tournament for U11 children, which has not run since 2019 due to COVID. There were 13 schools in total who took part, with the winners going on to represent the Midlands region in the finals. Two groups were put together, with 7 schools in one and 6 in the other. Eversfield were in the group of six, along with Fairfield, Leicester Grammar, Derby High, The Elms and Warwick. The top two from each group would go on to the semi-finals and knockout stage of the competition.

In truth it was a tough morning and afternoon of play. With the quality and speed of the football being played, at a very high level. The team took a bit of time to get into their stride, with our best result coming in the fourth game against Leicester Grammar, where we lost 2-1. Great pride can be taken in the fact that all the players worked hard in every minute of every game and never gave up. Once play had finished we had lunch whilst watching the semi-final and final, noting that both finalists were from our group earlier in the day.

All the players enjoyed their day out and it was nice to be able to take part in such a competition again. While the majority of the team were from Form 6, there were a few Form 5 children, who will gain from this experience as they  hopefully represent the school again next year.
