Thanksgiving Service and Awards Ceremony
This year our Thanksgiving Service and Awards Ceremony at Christ Church was limited to Form 6 pupils only and their families. The ceremony offered us the opportunity to pay tribute to the children, parents and staff who have all adapted with enthusiasm and ability to the changes imposed upon us all over the last year. Unfortunately we were unable to gather the whole school community together but a special end of year assembly was also held so that all the prize winners from across the school could be recognised for their achievements this year.
The Donald Smith Award is presented this year to a young man who has consistently reached a remarkably high academic standard throughout his time at Eversfield. With guidance and encouragement from staff, his natural abilities have been refined and he has been given every opportunity to shine – which he certainly has. Our very commendable winner is Qihao G.
The Lattey Cup is presented annually to the child in the school who has, through his or her time, served the school best. This young man, throughout his time at Eversfield, has been consistent in his caring, kind attitude to others and is an excellent role model and ambassador of our school. The winner is Daniel P.
This year's recipient of The Carol Burke Science and Engineering Award has worked at a consistently high standard across all three sciences throughout their time at Eversfield. She has an extremely inquiring mind and a bright future as a scientist, should she choose it. She has a strong desire to succeed and this award recognises her outstanding achievement in Science. The award goes to Lily F.
The Starbuck Cup for Art this year goes to a very deserving pupil who has shown excellent flair and artistic ability from a very young age. These creative skills have flourished both in school and at home and she has worked incredibly hard to gain an art scholarship along the way. The world is her oyster. The cup deservedly goes to Alice W.
The Beatrice Humphris Cup for Music this year is presented to two young men. Both have consistently involved themselves within the Music Department, supporting Form 6 Chamber Choir and a variety of instrumental groups as restrictions have allowed. Peripatetic teaching staff have described them as two of the most motivated and dedicated musicians they have had the pleasure to teach in a long time, and this has also been apparent in lessons both in school and online. They have been real assets to the Music Department, and I know Mr Biggs will be sorry to see them leave. The cup goes to Karan K and Qihao G.
The Drama Cup is presented to two young ladies who have, over the years and on numerous different occasions, demonstrated considerable aptitude and enthusiasm for performance. These talented actresses have shown great dedication on the stage, both inside and outside school – and at home with their recordings on Seesaw. On stage recently they both entertained us with their excellent portrayals of young Carrie. This year, the drama cup goes to Eva V S and Tayla S.
The Headmaster’s Cup for Contribution to Boys’ Team Sports is a cup that is awarded to the sportsman in Form 6 who has played an outstanding role in different team sports and represented the school at all levels, in many sports. This year the cup goes to a young man who was an integral member of the rugby, football, cricket and swimming team. He also gained team colours in multiple sports, as well winning the Victor Ludorum athletics cup. A very deserving winner is Noah R.
The Headmaster’s Cup for Contribution to Girls’ Team Sports is awarded to a young lady who has been a key member of the school teams throughout her school life. Although not always the most vocal player on the pitch, her ability and presence brings the best out of her team mates and she leads by example in all sports. Always encouraging and never critical, she delights in the achievements of others whilst being modest about her own even though she has much to celebrate. Congratulations to the winner Aliya S.
The Information Technology Cup is awarded to an individual who exhibits exceptional aptitude, not only in the different skills that are taught within lessons, but in his ability to transfer his knowledge and apply it to enhance all areas of his curriculum work. A dedicated and motivated learner, the cup is presented to Henry T-C.
The Madden Cup is awarded to the girl or boy who is a good citizen and consistent in following our school code of CARE. This young man is compassionate, respectful of others and the world around him, and always endeavours to do his best. His aspirations are set high in everything he does and he perseveres until he achieves his goal. The worthy winner is Henry C.
The Scholarship Awards for this year were presented to a very worthy group of children who performed to an exceptionally high level in the 11+ entrance examinations. These 7 children managed to accrue a superb 13 scholarships between them across many areas of the curriculum. This year scholarships were awarded to: Suleiman A; Phoebe B; Lily F; Noah G; Qihao G; Karan K and Alice W.
Many congratulations also to Rohan A and Aarian S who have been awarded 7+ Academic Scholarships and join our very successful scholarship programme when they enter Form 3 in September.
Form prizes are awarded each year to pupils in Form 1 to 6 who have shown that they are excellent role models by their work, effort and dedication to Eversfield. As we were unable to all come together this year, the prizes were presented to pupils in Forms 1 to 5 by Mr Yates in final assembly of the term, and to Form 6 at the Thanksgiving and Awards Service.
