Year of the Tiger
Chinese New Year has been a perfect way to extend the Reception children’s understanding of the world. By learning about different seasonal celebrations we are able to share the importance of events to different cultures, and introduce the children to different traditions and customs that they may not be familiar with.
The week has been packed with engaging activities. They have been reading the story of 'The Great Race', learning how to count in Chinese and write Chinese numbers, making paper lanterns and chain dragons, creating tiger masks, enjoying a visit to a Chinese restaurant in the role play area, and discovering if they were born in the year of the Rooster or Monkey.
