Postcard from Normandy: Form 6 Residential Travel Logs
Form 6 recently returned from an unforgettable residential trip to Normandy, where they were based at the enchanting Château de la Baudonnière. Throughout the week, a dedicated team of native French-speaking animateurs provided a truly immersive language experience. From start to finish, pupils were encouraged to develop their listening and speaking skills, expand their vocabulary, grow in confidence, and foster a lasting enthusiasm for learning French.
The trip offered numerous chances to use French in meaningful, real-life contexts. Highlights included a bustling market shopping challenge, an engaging bread-making workshop, and an awe-inspiring visit to the iconic Mont-Saint-Michel, perched dramatically above the tidal bay.
Evenings were just as engaging, with the animateurs leading a varied and entertaining programme designed to keep the children immersed in the language through games, songs, and team challenges.
Back at the château, the group made full use of the excellent on-site facilities. Outdoor adventure activities gave pupils the chance to push themselves physically and emotionally, while building resilience, teamwork, and independent thinking. The blend of language, culture, fun, and adventure made for a truly enriching and memorable experience for all.
