Science Spotlight: Form 6 Uncover the Secrets of DNA

Form 6 have been diving into the fascinating world of inheritance, exploring how traits such as eye colour, height and blood type are passed down through generations. To bring the science to life, the pupils headed to the lab to extract DNA.

They were amazed to discover that humans share roughly 50% of our DNA with a banana, proving that we have more in common with the natural world than meets the eye. By extracting it themselves, the children were able to see and touch DNA as a physical substance, turning an abstract concept into a hands-on reality.
