F1 Designer and Alumnus Returns to Inspire Form 6 Engineers
We were thrilled to welcome back former pupil Ed Crossley (Class of 2014) to school this week for a very special STEM workshop with Form 6.
Since leaving us, Ed has pursued his passion for engineering, graduating with a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Birmingham. Today, he works at the very pinnacle of motorsport, designing parts for Formula 1 cars with Williams Racing!
Ed generously brought his real-world expertise back into our classrooms to mentor Form 6 with their current car design project. He spent time with each group, reviewing their blueprints and offering expert feedback. By showing the pupils how tiny, precise adjustments can make a massive difference to aerodynamic success and performance, Ed sparked an incredible wave of problem-solving.
Thanks to his guidance, our young engineers were able to troubleshoot and refine their designs on day one of manufacture! It was fantastic to see the students thinking like real trackside engineers and picking up the concepts Ed shared.
