Postcard from North Wales: Form 5 Residential Travel Logs

Does sitting on a hot sandy beach with the sun heating the air, watching 40 children make sandcastles, count as working? Taking Form 5 on a field trip to Wales is an unfortunate burden to my role. We have been climbing mountains, circumnavigating lakes and scrambling up gorges with wetsuits on, amongst studying beaches and coastlines of course.

I still enjoy taking this time out of school to learn more about each pupil in Form 5. They talk without reservation and with less formality. They maybe see us as individuals too with a life beyond school. They also develop their personalities, having to share and compromise and see that their classmates do things differently to them. It’s a social experience none of them should miss.
