Saxons Set Sail for Victory
Parents, families and friends joined us today for the annual House Music Competition. The concert provided a wonderful performance opportunity for all the musicians and singers from both Middle School and Upper School. A range of musical genres were on offer, sung or performed on a variety of instruments including vocals, piano, wind, strings, brass and drums.
This year’s choral songs had a Pirate theme and all of the children rose to the challenge of finding their inner buccaneer to perform with exuberance and character.
In a bid to secure the prestigious cup for their house 77 children auditioned and 24 soloists from Forms 3 to 6 took to the stage. There were some well rehearsed and refined performances and while the emphasis was very much on enjoyment and participation, the difficult task of deciding the winning house sat with our adjudicator, Mr Johnathan Soman, Director of Music at the Royal Grammar School, Worcester. There was no denying the pride of Saxons in their competition winning performance as Mr Soman announced the result.
Congratulations to all the children who auditioned and performed.
