Staying Safeside
As part of the Form 5 PSHE (risk taking) curriculum, the children visited Safeside, the West Midlands Fire Service immersive, full-size indoor safety village. It has several scenarios including a bank, house, road, shop, police station and canal. It allows children to learn about real dangers, within a safe and controlled environment. They were involved in life-like situations as they engaged with the actors and were challenged to think about behaviours and possible implications spanning a range of safety topics such as being reminded not to go down dark alleys, to close internal doors at night time in case of fire, to always wear a seatbelt and use a booster if needed.
