It's Good to Talk

We joined 1,000s of schools last week to shine a spotlight on Children's Mental Health Week and the importance of young people’s mental health.

With its theme this year of "Let's Connect" our Peer Mentors were bursting with brilliant ideas and each day we enjoyed a different theme with Mindful Monday, Talking Tuesday, Wellbeing Wednesday, Thoughtful Thursday and Feel Free Friday.

Mindful Monday saw us starting the day with a mountain pose and a mega yoga session, and work started on creating a paper chain to make a giant whole school connection. Talking Tuesday was also Safer Internet Day so it was the perfect day for making space for conversations about life online, sharing experiences of using online platforms and learning about the importance of staying safe.

Giving everyone’s mental wellbeing a physical boost on Wellbeing Wednesday Mrs Sliney invited everyone in Middle and Upper School to join her on her walk to complete the daily mile. Thoughtful Thursday provided an opportunity for reflection and listening to calming music in lessons and asking the children to share how they were feeling and why.

Finishing the week Mr Leonard and Mrs Sliney hosted a dance session for Feel Free Friday which proved to be a real crowd-pleaser!

Parental Resources

Place2Be have some fantastic resources to help parents explore the theme of Let's Connect at home.

This activity for 4-7 year olds, presented by CBBC’s Art Ninja Ricky Martin, will help children to celebrate what they care about and what they feel connected to.
