Business Acumen Development for Young Entrepreneurs
Form 6 have been getting to grips with the nuts and bolts needed to turn their business ideas into a reality. Collaboration was key for the young entrepreneurs as they worked apprentice-style on their café business ventures as part of a Maths multi-skills challenge.
Working in teams they drew on creativity to develop their marketing materials, developed scale drawings of their café layouts paying careful attention to maximise the seating capacity, and worked through their costings and pricing policy carefully to maximise profitability on their chosen menu.
Tempting menus attracted multiple orders for all of the cafes as they role-played serving customers before calculating their total customer spend and gross profits.
The children had fun learning about complex topics such as calculating profits whilst developing very practical life skills such as organisation, money management, problem solving and communication.
